Alfalfa Sprouts


Alfalfa is a germinated alfalfa seed. Often used in Asian dishes, it’s also a good addition to soups, sandwiches and salads.

Contains high levels of phytoestrogens and antioxidants

May decrease cholesterol

Look for sprouts that smell fresh and clean. Wash thoroughly-if musty smell, discard.

Alfalfa Sprout Omlette

Add to stir fries for the last 30 seconds of cooking

Add to soup after heating soup

Toss in microwave for a minute before they turn brown to make them crispy

Raw sprouts should not be consumed by children, elderly and those with weakened immune systems according to the FDA. Cooking reduces the chances of bacterial infection.
